Wonderful Scowling Monk faces on these sconces that we attribute to Gaumer of Philadelphia and from about 1900-1910. Gaumer was known for their highly quality construction most often in bronze plated cast iron, with riveted lanterns. The line of medieval inspired monk faces came in two versions---scowling and jovial. We stripped the old black spray paint we found on these to reveal the original bronze plating underneath, gave them a new coat of protective nitrocellulose lacquer, and installed new opalescent "slag" glass. These screw to the wall with three brass wood screws, included.
Back plate is 4" x 10", overall 12" tall x 5" wide, x 9" deep. Priced for the pair.
